About Me

Specializing in health and wellness, Danielle has written on various health topics and conditions for magazines and websites, including the new expert cancer website SurvivorNet. Her areas of specialty include pregnancy, reproduction, thyroid disease, cancer treatments, POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), and various other medical diseases and conditions.

Danielle turned to her passion for medicine and health and became a health columnist for New York Parenting. In addition, she has also been a writer for the popular parenting blog, Disney’s Babble, as well as Contributing Editor for New York Family Magazine, a monthly columnist for Charlottesville Family, and a contributing writer for Midwifery Today, Mommy Poppins, and Brooklyn Paper.

Health writing is personal

My goals when writing and researching health topics are to educate and inform because I firmly believe that knowledge most certainly does bring power. As the daughter of a high-risk pregnancy nurse/ultrasound specialist and a general surgeon, I have been curious and learning about health and medicine her entire life. Later on, as a mom of children with not widely known autoimmune issues, I found myself immersed in a world where little information was available and what was out there was faulty, at best. This reaffirmed my life’s work of getting clear and concise health news out to the public.

Editorial career

I began her career in the parenting magazine sector as an Editorial Assistant at Big Apple Parent working under her greatest mentor and founder, Helen Freedman. I then became Managing Editor at Davler Media Group for NYMetroParents, gaining a wealth of experience in overseeing both the print and digital editorial operations of the magazines.

Awards and distinctions

My article “POTS: The Teen Disease You’ve Probably Never Heard Of” went viral within 24 hours of posting. My column, “Healthy Living” won Best Column by the Parenting Media Association multiple times. She has received silver and gold awards for writing and editing from the PMA’s for over 10 years.
